SAC is now accepting applications for the 2024-2026 term! Please click on the link at the bottom of this page to apply.
SAC Membership
Do you want to be part of a great opportunity to learn new skills and be part of a great team of staff from across the University? Do you know someone who would benefit from a professional development opportunity and appreciate the chance to be involved in the Brown community? Are you willing and able to make the commitment? We are always looking for dynamic and vested individuals to join the team!
Time Commitment
Being a member of SAC is a significant time commitment. Meetings take place twice a month for 60 - 90 minutes each and are held virtually or at different locations throughout the campus. We also hold networking/social events throughout the year, some are after work hours and some are at lunchtime. Being a SAC member means you are willing to participate in events and support the Council's efforts to engage with staff in a multitude of ways.
Please note: There is no additional compensation (monetary or compensatory time) for attending any SAC meetings or events. Prior to applying to SAC, if daytime meetings and events occur during your normal working hours, you will need to discuss with, and have approval from, your supervisor.
Eligibility
To be eligible for SAC, you must be a staff employee on the regular payroll, in a position that is designated at least 66% time or greater, having completed nine full months of University service by the time your term starts. Members serve 2-year terms, attend up to 2 committee meetings each month (varies each month), and should participate in other projects or events.
Submitting Nominations or Applications
We strongly encourage all interested staff members to discuss their interest in SAC with their supervisors before applying, as an important responsibility of membership is full participation.
If you have questions about becoming a member of SAC, please email us at sac@brown.edu.
