The Parking and Transportation Advisory Committee (PTAC) serves as a channel for the expression of constituent and individual opinions and preferences on broad policy matters and specific issues related to both existing and proposed transportation and parking services for the campus. The committee’s activities encompass reviewing, advising and advocating for improvement to circulation, parking, transportation policies, operations and services. Their primary objective is to ensure transportation and parking decisions for Brown University are strategically aligned, collaborative, well-informed, evidence-based, sustainable, executable, responsive, flexible, and properly resourced.
Guidance documents include the Brown University Institutional Master Plan, major and minor capital improvement plans, 2022 “Around Brown” Transportation Management Plan, Brown University Sustainability Strategic Plan, agreements with the City of Providence, City of Providence Zoning Ordinance, and applicable University, local, state and federal policies and regulations.
Staff to the Committee will provide data and analysis to inform decision-making such as parking utilization, transit ridership data and trends, mode split data, survey results and budget information. Internal stakeholders will be accessed regarding service requirements as needed.
