Staff Advisory Council (SAC)

What SAC Can Do For You

The President’s Staff Advisory Council (SAC) consists of a diverse group of staff members from various University offices and academic departments. We serve as advisers to the president and senior administrators, with the goal of fostering a positive working environment for all University staff. We serve on and help recruit for important institutional committees to represent the needs and concerns of all staff, provide input on policies and procedures that pertain to or impact staff and the University community, create networking opportunities for staff across the University, and provide a supportive network to collaborate with the University in communicating and achieving its goals.

University Resources

This is Brown University Human Resources’ central guide detailing how staff and faculty report various workplace concerns, complaints, and incidents. It provides a categorized list of issues—such as discrimination, safety, and compliance—and directs employees to the specific reporting method, contact information, and options for confidential or anonymous reporting.
The UHR Employee and Labor Relations team is primarily responsible for negotiating and administering the University’s collective bargaining agreements. The Employee and Labor Relations office also provides unionized departments with day-to-day counseling on labor relations matters, sets labor relations policy, and provides training to managers and supervisors who work with union employees.
The Brown University Ombudsperson is a confidential, neutral, and informal resource that partners with faculty, staff, and students to manage conflicts and concerns affecting their work or study by providing confidential consultation, informal mediation, and facilitation for a wide range of issues from policy questions to interpersonal disputes. Connect to explore your options without pressure to take specific action.
President Paxson's office hours give both staff and the president an opportunity to meet and discuss a wide variety of subjects affecting them and the University. Pre-scheduled appointments are required.
Brown employees must join a waitlist via the Park@Brown system to obtain parking. Available options include daytime off-street lot parking and daytime on-street leased parking, with the annual fee for both determined by the employee's salary range and paid via payroll deduction. Special permits for ADA parking can also be requested through Human Resources.
